Detailed Dfig Wind Park Initialization For Electromagnetic Transient Modeling
The proper initialization of inverter-based resources in large power systems can significantly reduce the computing times to reach steady-state in electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulations. This paper presents a new initialization method for Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) wind parks. Using loadflow simulation results, the method initializes the electrical components, the electromechanical model, and the control settings of a wind park. EMT simulations on simplified and detailed wind park models within large systems across multiple case studies validate the approach. The results demonstrate that the proposed technique significantly reduces the time required to reach steady-state compared to conventional methods.
