Voltage Stability Support Offered by Active Distribution Networks

This paper investigates distributed control schemes with which an Active Distribution Network can help to increase the voltage stability loadability limit of a bulk power system. Ac-tive distribution networks with converter connected renewable energy units can improve network operation through their con-trol and regulation resources. In this paper the aim is to enhance power system voltage stability through distributed controls, re-specting at the same time the operational limits of the distribution grid. Case studies of a radial power system, as well as of a real power system snapshot are included.
