On the Negative Correlation of Stochastic Voltage Dependent Loads

This paper discusses the effect of voltage dependency on stochastic loads. The study shows that the higher the exponent of the voltage in the load model, the higher the correlation of the active and reactive power consumption. Counterintuitively, this correlation is negative. As a consequence, the higher the exponent of the voltage, the less the impact of the noise on the dynamic behavior of the system. The paper provides a theoretical development that supports this conclusion as well as a comprehensive case study based on a well-known benchmark system.
