Introduction to OmniPES: a Novel Modelica Library for Power Systems Modeling and Analysis

This paper introduces OmniPES, a Modelica library tailored for the swift prototyping of small to medium-scale power systems, facilitating analysis in both steady-state and transient conditions. Notable features include sigmoid-based switches that enforce reactive power constraints in power sources during steady-state or quasi-steady-state operation. Moreover, the library incorporates a transient stability modeling framework, offering a structure akin to those utilized in production-grade power systems programs. These features are illustrated through a tutorial system operating under a secondary voltage regulation loop. The presented results validate and clearly demonstrate the accuracy and effectiveness of this proposed library.
